Planning a big event can be extremely overwhelming and stressful and it can sometimes be hard to figure out when to start planning, ordering and sending out invitations. We’ve created a handy guide for you to help you determine your timelines so that your beautiful stationery arrives to you within good time, and hopefully help ease some of that stress!

when to start planning

  • Save the Dates

Sending a save the date a year in advanced is recommended to give your guests enough notice to make their plans. This is especially important if you are having a destination wedding or if you have guests coming in from overseas.

  • Book your Stationery

Book your designer in now! This way they will have enough time to complete your order so you receive your stationery on time. Around this time, you should be organising your guest list so you know how many invitations you require.

  • Send Out Your Invitations

It’s time to get ready to send out your invitations. You should account for postage time and the time it takes for guests to RSVP. Ideally, your RSVP date will be at least 5 - 6 weeks before your wedding date.

  • Stationery for the Wedding Day

If you haven’t already booked your day-of stationery, then this is the time to do it. Day-of stationery means the pieces you need for the wedding day itself, such as welcome signs, seating charts, place cards and menus. We aim to have these arrive to you 1-2 weeks before the wedding.
